Party Rock is in the House Tonight!

Hey Hey Hey!


So I am completely in awe of the fact that I'm at 800 views! Woot Woot! It has taken me a while to get to this point, but I'm super excited. Hopefully I'll be at 1,000 soon. Here's a couple of updates for now!

Everyone on the bus, headed to the game!

1. Drake has new music...aigdadhfoigjiojasdgabbagabbagabba!! I am SUPER excited because I was starting to get just a little bored with Headlines. But that song is still great nonetheless! The first song, Club Paradise, is kinda chill and somber. It's more like the "new" Drake. The second song, Free Spirit featuring Rick Ross, sounds a lot like So Far Gone! Yay (: The final song, Waka Flocka's Round of Applause, which features Drake is....interesting to say the least. Drake's part goes real hard of course...but anything Waka Flocka is not so great (to say the least). Nevertheless, I'm super excited about Drake's newly released singles & extra pumped for "Take Care" (which comes out in 1 month & 12 days yay!)
2. First home football game of the year! Woot Woot! Unfortunately we lost, due to a last minute fumble & a sucky offensive line. I was seriously hoping that we would win this game. We lost by 3 points :( Three points! I had lots of fun with my friends though (I got to see my Patrice who I've missed sooo much) & next week's game should be a definite win :)
3. Party Party Party: So Friday night there was a hugeeeee frat party at the Delta Sigma house. There were sooo many people there. I had lots and lots of fun (: Then Saturday night we headed dt after the game. It was lots of fun! Two of my friends and I were at this club dt and they started playing LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem. My friend looooooves that song and immediately climbed up on a table & started shuffling. Well she shuffled too far to the right and fell off the table! Bahahahaha. The funny thing is that even though she fell and was wedged in between the table & seats, she was still singing and trying to shuffle. LOL! That was a very eventful night!
4. So Far, So Good: So far sophomore year is great! I'm meeting so many new people, my classes are terribly easy (they're my final core classes before I enter my major) & I'm just living it up! I think it has a lot to do with the building that I'm living in this year. Last year my building was filled with lots of Sorostitutes (except for Inverness Hall & the 9th floor!), but this year a lot of my friends live on my hall & everyone is super chill. Thank God for that!

That the Real is on the Rise, Forget them Other Guys

Okay so I'm in the blogging mood tonight & I decided to make another music post. I've added 987348756345 new songs to my I-pod and I wanted to share some with y'all: 

1. Love on Top-Beyonce...if you didn't see the VMAs, you missed out! Not only did Beyonce belt out this song, but she announced that she's prego. This baby is gonna be adorable....as long as it doesn't look like her husband...or her mama....or like that. -------> hahaha.

2. Niggas in Paris- Jay-Z & Kanye West. This is my absolute favorite song off of 'Watch the Throne.' This song makes me wanna get it crunk on someone's ahhh. Hahaha. But this is my party song. If you want a hype song, this is it!

3. Mas Dinero, Mas Mujeres, Mas Drama- J. Alvarez. So let me just say that J. Alvarez is my Latin lover. His voice= ahhhhhhh.  This song is amazing! BTW, I know this is a hip hop song in English...More Money, More Women, More Drama. If you know of a song in English, drop me a comment below because this lack of knowledge is killing me. 

4. Frio Remix-Ricky Martin ft. Wisin y Yandel Ricky Martin is back with W con Y! haha. This is a really great song and it easily gets stuck in your head.

I'm With You > The Carter IV

Hello Lovers,


So as many of y'all know, I was anxiously awaiting the release of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album, I'm With You. Well the wait is over. I'm With You was released on Monday (I think...it's been a long week) and this cd definitely makes up for the five year gap between Stadium Arcadium & IWY. Many were disappointed by this cd because of the departure of guitarist John Frusciante. Although the guitar chords are definitely a lot weaker than those on some of their previous albums, I think this cd is ABSOLUTELY amazing & it was well worth the wait. Now for the good part...my favorite songs off the album :)


***Disclosure: Before I begin this, I have to admit that I'm still in the process of listening to this album. I promise I'll finish this blog as soon as I'm done listening ;) For the meantime, I'll rank the songs from favorite to least favorite. Remember to click the links to listen!


1. Ethiopia- E I O I E I A. I guarantee that if you give this song one listen, it will be stuck in your head! This is my absolute favorite song off of this cd! It's quirky and funky, reminiscent of 'Mother's Milk' and 'Blood Sex Sugar Magik.' 


2. The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie- This is the album's first single, which was released towards the middle of June. It really got me excited for this album! This song is also quirky and funky, just like Ethiopia.


3. Factory of Faith- With this song we're reminded of their more recent albums, with a hint of something new!


4. Look Around- This song is somewhat similar to Factory of Faith. It reminds me of one of their old songs, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which one. (I'll get back to y'all when I finish listening to the rest of these songs).

5. Brendan's Death Song- This song is ranked so low, simply because it's super sad. It's about LA club owner, Brendan Mullen, who helped to give RHCP their start. After passing away from a stroke, Anthony Kiedis wrote this song about him.


6. Did I Let You Know- This song is soooo different from anything that RHCP has ever done before. It has a Latin vibe.  & I love it.

Back to College!

So I'm back at school again....WOOT! & I must say that this year is already 19234872394723497 times greater than last year. So many  of my friends live in my dorm this year & it feels like a party everyday. Last week I partied almost everyday to make up for my completely uneventful summer. Thursday a group of my friends & I went dt to a bar (right), headed to an Alpha Party & then acted like fools at Waffle House after. We even made grad school friends & took pictures with them! LOL. Friday, a group of friends & I went to my friend Alex's apartment & then headed downtown for another Alpha/Sigma party. That party was by far the BEST party of the weekend! Saturday was a big FAIL. We went to a Kappa party & it was super lame. But my friends kept me laughing, which made up for it. I'm looking forward to more parties coming up soon! Anywho...now that you're caught up with my life, here are some things that have been on my mind!

• (Not so) Picture Perfect: This new picture tool on blogger.com is seriously annoying. I can't get my pictures to do anything that I want them to do :( If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
• Va a Ser Abuela-Farruko: I cannot get this song out of my head....not that it's a bad thing :) Va a ser abuela by Farruko, one of my favorites newcomers to reggaeton, is such a sweet song.  Farruko brings something new  to his repertoire with this bachata song & I'm loving it. If you don't understand Spanish and thus, why I love this song so much, you can read the lyrics by clicking here.
• Zumbaaaaaa! I am a huge fan of Zumba. If you don't know what Zumba is, it's an aerobic dance class which combines basic latin dance (such as merengue, salsa, cumbia & bachata) with  aerobics & hip hop. I went to my first class my junior year of high school & I have been going ever since...college. haha. If you read my post a couple of months back about the things that I wanted to do before the summer ended, you read about how I wanted to take a Zumba class. Well two months down the road and a day before I was ready to head back to college, I still hadn't taken a Zumba class :( Fortunately they have Zumba classes at my school, so of course I had to go! My roomie & I went last Thursday & it was AMAZING! If you've never been to a Zumba class, I would highly recommend that you attend. It is so much fun & it doesn't feel like you're working out.
• Strip Aerobics? In addition to going to Zumba this week, I also tried something new & went to strip aerobics. LOL! You only live once right? There's a dance studio in my college town that hosts a free class week at the beginning of each semester & I decided to try something new...very new. I went with my roomie & my neighbor! Even though I was a little anxious when I first walked into the class (I literally had no idea what I was getting myself into), the class ended up being really fun & an excellent workout. We started out with a high intensity warm up  & then learned a choreographed routine to Lady Gaga's You and I (click here to listen!). It was super fun & I will definitely be attending again.
• Classes! So my classes so far have turned out to be fabulous! I am really loving them so far. We'll see if I still feel the same way by the end of the semester. Hah ;)
• Real Housewives, where are you? I am EXTREMELY excited for the premier of the next season of the Real Housewives of ATL. Please hurry up!! Also, I'm pretty excited about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but sad to hear that Taylor Armstrong's husband committed suicide, allegedly because of his marriage being played out on television. This is extremely tragic. It's sad that Russell Armstrong felt that the only way out of dealing with his marital problems was by committing suicide. & it's also extremely sad that the media would portray him in a such a way that would drive him to commit suicide. How is Taylor supposed to explain her husband's death to her young daughter? :(

Sorry but I have to say this

I hate to have to rant on here...but this is something that I just feel the need to elaborate on. In the past month it seems like every other black guy that I've seen has been wearing an outfit composed of the following: a pair of camo shorts, a snap back, and a graphic tee with a pair of chucks/vans. Then the other day I went out to eat with some friends & I noticed a  guy wearing camo shorts and a snap back. I don't know what about this guy in particular made a nerve pop off in my brain but I was just completely disgusted...maybe it's because he was working at the restaurant & that outfit was the only "decent" thing that he could put on. When I saw this particular guy, the first thing that popped into my head was Wiz Khalifa.

I then thought to myself, "Wiz Khalifa is not cute.....really not cute. Why would someone want to dress like him?" Then when I was getting ready to type this post, I typed in rappers with camo shorts (just to see where all these local guys are getting this style idea from). Let me show you who popped up.....

Dwayne Carter -________- Not only is Lil Wayne ugly, but he's also no talent rapper who would do society a favor if he went back to jail. Why would you wanna dress like him? I mean just to elaborate, look at how beautiful & classy Drake looks sitting next to Wayne. Drake looks like a socially educated, well dressed man sitting next to a hood rat

Chris Brown.....do you want to dress like a wife beater?

Jay-Z....not cute, overplayed & the man has compared himself to God on more than one occasion. Would you want to dress like him?

And now to top it all off, Eminem...crazy, overplayed, violent, and not so attractive. He is the super version of all the rappers previously listed.

So the point of this rant is...what you wear really says a lot about you. Your clothes tell your interests, values, and most importantly show the world what level of respect you have for YOURSELF and others. Do you want your style to reflect these rappers? Think about what you're wearing.

*Screams* Ahhhhhh!!!!! Drake finally released a single off his new album "Take Care" and it is AMAZING!! This is the Drake that I was hoping would be portrayed on "Thank Me Later." Drake's first album was not at all what I expected (and at first not at all what I liked, but I eventually warmed up to). However, Drake promised that his sophomore cd would be more like his critically acclaimed mixtape (and my personal fave) "So Far Gone." From the sound of this song, he is definitely keeping his word. This song makes me even more excited about his new album! Yay! I really hope that y'all enjoy this song as much as I do (:

Music makes you lose control

New music post! A couple posts back I talked about how one of my goals for the summer was to find new music. Well I definitely did that & I decided to share some of my newly discovered songs. Also, since I've been blabbering away about all of my favorite artists who have recently released albums, I decided to post some of the songs from the albums on here that I've continually been talking about. Also, I've categorized my songs this time. I'm going back to my old format, so click the link to listen to the song. Newbies (or at least newbies to me):

• Settle Down/Cameo Lover- Kimbra. This singer from New Zealand is brand spanking new to the music scene. I recently learned that at age 20, she's only a year older than me. I still can't use to the fact that the majority of newcomers to the music scene are most likely going to be around my age (I still feel like a 16 year old at heart ;) ). I am so happy to add yet another album to my look forward to list of albums coming out. Kimbra's debut album, Vows, is set to be released Sept. 2.
• Dancing with the DJ-the Knocks. I was in American Eagle (a store that I don't normally shop in) when I first heard this song. I got that feeling that you get when you hear a song for the first time and you just love it. This catchy dance song sounds straight from the 70s. It makes me wanna hop onto the dance floor & bust a move.
• Gucci Gucci- Kraeyshawn. I seriously can't believe I'm posting this song. The first time that I heard it I seriously thought it was the most annoying thing that I'd ever heard. But something about this song is just so catchy. You can't help but to sing out "Gucci gucci, louis louis, fendi fendi, prada." hahaha 
• Donald Trump- Mac Miller. I think I'm a little late with this song. But as my future husband Drake would say, "Better late than never, but never late is better." haha. A lot of my friends had mentioned Mac Miller in the past, but I stayed away from him because I figured he would just be another sell out rapper. However, this song is pretty good!

From the albums I've mentioned:

• The Adventures of Raindance Maggie-The Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don't think I can explain to you how enthusiastic I am about this song. It's been half a decade since RHCP's last studio album, Stadium Arcadium, was released...and boy has it been a long five years. I really love this song because it's like a mix of RHCP's old funk style and their new rock style. Adventures... is the first pre-released song from their upcoming album, 'I'm With You.' I can't wait for their new album to come out! Yay (:
• Summer Jam/Bundle Up/Swimsuits- The Cool Kids. The Cool Kids are probably one of the most greatest, yet underrated and under appreciated rap groups of the 2000s. This indie rap duo has its own unique flava and the topics which the pair raps about actually has some substance to it. Their songs tell stories or have a common theme other than the stereotypical "sex, drugs, and money" scheme that many of these dumb ahh rappers seem to be so caught up in now-a-days. These three songs are my favorites off of their newly released album, 'When Fish Ride Bicycles.'
• Adolescents/Promises Promises- Just like RHCP, I am super excited that Incubus (another one of my favorite bands reminiscent of my 90s-00s childhood in white suburbia) has released another album. Along with this album comes a new Incubus tour which my friend and I are making plans to go to. If things work out this will be my second Incubus concert. We saw them in August '09 as part of their 'Monuments and Melodies' tour. If I do get to see them again, trust me there will be a future post devoted to them. (: For the time being, please enjoy my two favorite songs from their new album, 'If Not Now, When?'

It's been a while

Hey Yall! As usual, it's been quite some time since I've posted much of anything. However, for once I actually have some things to blog about! Yay!

1. RIP Amy Winehouse- I was devastated today when I heard the news that one of my all time favorite artists, Amy Winehouse, passed away. My heart has been hurting all day. It almost feels like I lost a friend. Her music reminds me of sooo many memories from high school. My friend Kevin singing, "Tears Dry on their Own" when we went out to eat one night. My friend Asha's love for her song "F me Pumps." Listening to "Valerie" 98758763583745 times while shopping for a dress for my debutante club's Christmas dance and hearing that song in one of my favorite movies, "27 Dresses." Introducing the song "Back to Black" to one of my friends. My neighbor loved the song "Rehab." The music world has truly lost a talented, ingenious performer. I'm scanning through other singers in my mind and the only other singers who are somewhat (and this is a far fetched somewhat) similar to Amy are Adele and Duffy. And although they are both still EXTREMELY talented, they just aren't Amy.  From the unique sound of her voice and amazing vocal range, to her unique musical style and that classic beehive doo, there will never be anyone that could replace Amy. Her first cd 'Frank' was an excellent jazz inspired debut, while her 'Back to Black' took the US by storm with her 60s girl group inspired anthems. The thing that makes me the most sad was that her death was totally preventable. Why didn't the ones who were closest to her make more of an effort to force her to get the help that she truly needed? It was so sad to watch her transition from a beautiful, healthy songstress which a powerful voice to a tiny woman overcome by the drugs which she chose to use. I had really hoped that she would make a comeback and release a new album. At least she now rests in a better place where she can no longer continue to harm herself. Amy, you will truly be missed.
2. I bought some kinky curly knot today detangler/leave in & so far I'm falling in love. I only used it in a small section of my hair in the front & it work amazingly. Knots were slipping right out & I liked the way my hair turned out after I combed it.
3. I have several countdowns going on for some of my favorite artists to release their new cds:
1. Drake's 'Take Care' is set to be released Oct. 24 (his birthday) ;)
2. RHCP's I'm With You is set to be released Aug 29th. Woot
4. Pretty Little Liars fans? Is this season getting extreme or what? I cannot wait to see what happens next. Since I haven't really had too much to do with my life recently, I've been keeping up with the show & it is absolutely amazing. Yay (:

Music! Yay!

I haven't made a music blog in a quite a while. As a matter of fact, I have blogged in quite a while. However, I'm really in the blogging mood so here is my second post of the day & this time it's all about music. I feel extra special too because I figured out how to insert youtube videos into my posts...no more clicking links! Yay! Anywho, I usually have a theme to my music posts, but today's post is going to be completely random. I'll Be Waiting- Adele

On my last music post I talked about how much I love Adele's new album, 21. Well a month later, I'm still enjoying it! I was hoping to see Adele in concert this month, but unfortunately she cancelled several of her American stops due to laryngitis. Wahhh! Feel better, Adele. So Adele "I'll be waiting" for your next trip to the US. Lol!

Man Down-Rihanna
I have been patiently waiting forever for this video to come out. Man Down is probably the best song that Rihanna has made to date. I love the fact that she doesn't hid her accent. So I had to post the video on here!


How to Love-Lil Wayne
Ummm...ill. Why am I posting a song by Lil' Wayne? I honestly don't know. This goes against everything I stand for. For those of you who don't know what on earth I'm talking about, I absolutely hate Lil' Wayne. HE SUCKS! He can't sing, he can't rap, he recycles his lyrics, he makes a horrid attempt at playing godawful chords on the guitar and he got two girls pregnant at the same time...gross! I mean do I have a point here? I think so. But anyway, something about the lyrics to the song just make my heart melt. For once (and I'm sure that this will probably be a one time only thing), Lil' Wayne has made a heartfelt, somewhat meaningful song. & I really enjoy. That is all.


Taboo- Don Omar

I don't really have too much to say about this song except for the fact that I love it. It makes me wanna hop on a plane and head straight to Rio de Janeiro to dance the Samba. You might recognize the hook which sounds similar to Jennifer Lopez's On the Floor. Both songs sample from Lambada by French pop group Kaoma ft. Brazilian songstress Loalwa Braz. 


I'm On One-DJ Khaled ft. Drake, Rick Ross and Lil' Wayne
This is my absolute favorite song right now. I think I've stressed enough that I'm in love with Drake and one day we are going to get married ;) So of couse, I'm going to love any song by him. I'm sure this song probably could have been better without Lil' Wayne and for that matter without Rick Ross snorting like some sort of farm animal. LOL! But I hope y'all like this song as much as me :)


Let's Kill Tonight- Panic! at the Disco
As far as I'm concerned, PATD has made their their second comeback with their third album, Vices & Virtues. I absolutely loved their debut album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. But I was really upset after Pretty. Odd. failed to live up to PATD's potential. However, Vices & Virtues is pretty amazing & Let's Kill Tonight is my favorite song off the album.

New music post Yay!!

Okay so I'm really on a blogging high tonight & since I haven't blogged in a while, I'm making up for missed time. Plus, I'm supa dupa excited because so many of my favorite artists have/are going to release albums this year. Yay! Don't forgot to click on the name of the song. Mala- Jadiel: So usually my spanish song is a reggaeton song, but I wanted to do something different from the norm. This song is more a pop/reggaetonish song. Either way it's amazing & makes ya wanna bust a move. Lol! It was also one of my "take a break from
final studying" songs.


He Won't Go- Adele: In my last blog I talked about how I'm currently on an Adele high. Well she is Uh-may-zang to say the least. This is currently one of my faves from her new album, 21. I wish that I could have half the voice that she has. I love Adele!

Adolescents- Incubus: I also talked about Incubus in my last blog. I really liked their last newest single, 'Black Heart Inertia.' But after Brandon Boyd came out with his solo album, 'The Wild Trapeze,' I had a feeling that Incubus was no longer in existence. Welp, I thought wrong. This song has the stereotypical 'new age' Incubus sound to it & I love it. I hope that you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Memories- Big Sean: After seeing Big Sean in concert, I downloaded a butt load of his songs onto my I-pod and I must admit that this is my absolute fave. You know that real emotion was put into a song when your stomach curls as you listen to it or when you're suddenly filled with some emotion. This song makes me feel somewhat sad, but a good sad nonetheless. Listen to it & you'll hear why I say this.

Joan of Arc- Ryan Leslie. He's back with a new cd coming out soon!! Yay! This is the only song that has been formally introduce onto itunes (I believe) and I love it. I am so excited for this cd! And like I've stressed before in previous blogs, his first two albums, "Ryan Leslie" & "Transition" are the ishhh. They are a must bye!

Liquor Store Blues- Bruno Mars ft. Damian Marley: Y'all....y'all...when I say I love this song...I mean I LOVE THIS SONG! Omg this song is amazing. It has that reggae vibe that I love & it has Damian Marley! Btw, Bruno Mars' entire cd is pretty good. I suggest that you take a listen!

The Kids Don't Stand a Chance- B.O.B. ft. Janelle Monae. Okay so after I went to the B.O.B. concert & became a true fan, lol, I found this song. Actually I found this song through my roomate. Haha. I'm a liar!!! Regardless of how I found it, it's a great remake with a great message. Janelle Monae has an amazing voice as well and I'd encourage all of you to listen to her music.

Corazon Sin Cara- Prince Royce: Alrighty! Last song of the post. This song is a Dominican style of music called Bachata. Along with it goes a very sensual, but easy to do dance. You should look it up. Anywhoo, this song is truly a great song. I would strongly encourage that you listen to the lyrics. This song in particular has changed my opinion of Bachata music. Before Prince Royce, one of the leading Bachata bands as Aventura. I don't really care for them b/c they sound like little girls crying their hearts out in every song. Lol! However, Prince Royce's songs are romance songs that are super sweet.Oh and the fact that he's cute just makes me love him even more. I wish that someone could write me a song as great as this one. I would suggest that you look up an English translation of this song.

Awee Man!!

My last music post wasn't as big of a hit as I expected it to be so I've decided to take a stab at it again and amp my posts up with some pictures, links & more details. Here are some of my recent faves (both past & present). Enjoy & don't forget to click on the links!

Chuleria en Pote-Jadiel & Farruco: Here's to all of you reggaeton lovers! This is probably one of the most chill reggaeton songs that I've ever heard. It's a great start to your morning & a great cool down to your evening. It definitely hints to reggaeton's reggae roots as well.

Bang Bang Bang!- Mark Ronson, The Business International & Q-Tip: This song has been out for seven months now but I'm just now hearing it & hearing it & hearing it. It's on constant replay on my ipod. It has an addicting chorus & I love the part in French. Je Te Plumerai La Tete!

No Games- Serani: Once again I'm late....real late. Apparently this song was a smash reggae hit over the SUMMER OF 2010. But in my defense, all of the songs that I've covered so far are foreign made, so my excuse is that it took a long time for these songs to reach the states. Originally I heard this song in Zumba class. It was our cool down song. Then at the Unity Ball (more info on the unity ball in the post below!) I heard this song again and went on a desperate search rampage to find it. Twenty search entries with wrong lyrics, pulling up various websites & youtube links and a headache later, voila! Enjoy.

Skinny Genes-Eliza Doolitte: I took a random chance with this song when it popped up on youtube's suggested videos list the other day & I completely fell in love. I am a big fan of Lily Allen. However, she hasn't come out with a cd since her last, 'It's Not Me, It's You." If you like Lily Allen or Kate Nash I can guarantee that you will fall in love with Eliza Doolittle. She has the sweet voice or Lily Allen, although she can't quite pack the punch that Lily does. But for the time being she's perfect!

In the Morning- J. Cole ft. Drake: So I'm pretty sure that I've made it clear that I'm in love with Drake and we are going to get married one day. With that proclamation of my love set aside, I luhhh this song! It is soo nasty, but addicting at the same time. This is another relaxing song (frankly, any Drake song is relaxing to me lol). In this one Drake teams up with up and coming Roc Nation signed rapper J. Cole, a college grad who is proving that he is talented both academically and musically. In addition to this song, J. Cole's entire Friday Night Lights mixtape is great and he also has another mixtape Cole World, which I haven't had the chance to listen to yet, but I'm sure is great as well. Btw I am super jeally that the two are touring Europe together for the next several months. Why Europe Drake!?!? Do they even know who you are there? Come back to America, NOW!! (<--- no offense intended, just a joke!)

SN: College is the perfect time to explore your tastes in music. I mean MTV has an entire channel devoted to University music. At my school there are lots of local bands who hold concerts downtown, parties with lots of fun music and so many new people to meet and explore their tastes in music (and maybe even influence your own tastes). Also in college, music= fashion. As a suggestion before coming to school, buy a shirt with your favorite musician, band, or artist. You're guaranteed to get compliments + it's a great conversation starter.

New Songs for the New Year

Hey Yall!!

I hope that your new year is starting off great. I got several albums for Christmas (Trey Songz' 'Passion, Pain, and Pleasure,' Rihanna's 'Loud,' and Ryan Leslie's 'Transition' and 'Ryan Leslie.' There are some great songs on all of those cd's so I decided that I should share some of them with yall (+ some other great songs).

1. Cheers (Drink to That)- Rihanna This is a great care free, "efff" you sort of song. Even if you don't drink, I'm sure that this song will make any bad day feel great!
2. All My Love- Ryan Leslie This song is a classic example of Ryan Leslie's greatness. Ryan never ceases to amaze me with his catchy lyrics, beats, and charisma which is translated throughout his songs.
3. WebCam & Te Ire a Buscar- Farruko. Newcomer reggaetonero Farruko's songs are a true example of classic reggaeton, a fusion of reggae and spanish music.

Five Things for Friday

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I decided to come home. I had some extra time on my hands so I decided to blog about five things that have been going on in my life this week :)

1. Farewell Football:
Saturday was the last game that I had a ticket for. Because the weather was so cold, I didn't wear a dress. Instead I wore a sweater and jeans. Because we had to get up early for the game, it was supposed to be cold. I figured that I would freeze my bootay off. However, I found that this game was the best college game yet! Since we weren't all dresed up, we were comfortable in our clothing. Plus it wasn't hot as Hades, so we weren't sweaty and uncomfortable. Thus, this game was soo much fun. Not to mention the fact that we won the game 55-7. It was a great way to end my football season 2010. I love winter football :) After the game me & my friends headed to the club. This party was hosted by both the Kappas and the Alphas so you already know there were fine boys galore! ;) After a night of dancing, getting hit on & gossip, I came home and crashed. I had a great day Saturday.

2. A Week of Culture:
This week there are many cultural events going on around campus. I'm a huge fan of learning about different cultures, so this was exciting to me. On Wednesday my friend Natalie & I went to Africa Night together. I have no idea what the names of the foods I ate were but it was yum. I had this spicy potato casserole, rice, these little crisp type things, and a flour like bread that had all sorts of spices in it. Tomorrow is Noche Latina, the Hispanic Student Association's night of Latin musical performances and Spanish food. I am so excited to have a piece of my Latin culture with me at school. On Sunday, I am going to an Indian Cultural program during which we will learn about henna and the ways that it is used around the world. Best of all we get free Indian food & henna!!!

3. Free Khalifa?
So it's bad enough that they already released that little cockroach Dwayne Carter from jail on Thursday (no offense to all of you fans out there, but I just cannot stand Lil Wayne). But on Monday (11/9)Wiz Khalifa was arrested for having 60 grams of marijuana on his tour bus. That's enough marijuana to be considered a smuggler. The Wiz man made a speedy return to freedom after posting $300,000 bond, but I doubt that that will be the last of his troubles. I mean the m an brags about buying $10,000 worth of weed per month in addition to creating his own line of rolling papers. Come on Wiz! Think of all of the beneficial things that he could do with $10,000 per month. That's more than 100,000 a year. You can help to feed starving children with that. It really saddens me that so many of these celebrities who have such a huge influence on today's teens get into such trouble for such ridiculous reasons. I am even more ashamed that one of my new faves has gotten in trouble for such a ridiculous reason. & to think that I was gonna go see him in concert two days prior to his arrest. smh

4. So Thankful to be Thankful:
Well there are about three more weeks of school left before the end of the semester and I cannot be happier. Don't get me wrong, I love college. I have made lots of new friends, I am learning so much about myself and my school work of course, and the parties have been great. But there are just some things from home that college can't offer. I miss my best friend who seems to understand me better than anyone else in this world. Even though we've had some rough spots in our friendship I've realized now that I've been away from her in my life that there are just parts of you that no one can understand as well as a bff. I miss my mom & my dad & my brother. I miss my warm, comfortable bed. lol. Basically I just need to go home for some r & r.

5. Deuces (Awe man, I should have made this number two)
So I know that I am sorta late reporting this, but the Deuces remix has got to be the most wonderful remix that I've ever heard. It's musical ingenuity..okay so not really, but it's pretty great. First of all, you know I'm going to love it because my future husband DRAKE is in it :) Plus it has three of my other fave rappers in it, Kanye West,T.I. and Andre 3000 (I used to loveeee OutKast). And it has Fabolous! I recommend that everyone give this song a try. Listen to it here.

6 Songs That I'm Singing

Happy Tuesday Everyone! As many of you may or may not know, I am a hugeee fan of music. I feel like even though I've only been here for a short while, college has introduced me to some great artists. So I've decided to share some of my new (and old) found faves. Click the links to hear each song. Enjoy!

1. Drake- I'm pretty sure that obsessed is an understatement when describing my love for this man. He is an actor, rapper, singer, and songwriter who has collaborated with nearly every big name in the hip hop game.

2. Willow- She's only 9 years old, but her debut song has reached #2 on I-tunes and is the most discussed topic on fb.

What I'm listening to: Whip My Hair
Willow's debut song is guaranteed to be stuck in your head. Try not to hurt yourself whipping your hair back & forth.


3. Brandon Boyd- The front man from rock alternative band Incubus has decided to take a stab at solo singing on his new album, The Wild Trapeze. Boyd sings and plays every musical instrument on the album. If that's not talent, then idk what is.

What I'm listening to: Runaway Train
This song is chill with just the right amount of upbeat tempo. It's the perfect song to roll down the windows & sing along to. If you like Incubus, you'll be sure to love this.



4. Wiz Khalifa- Attention fans of hip-hop: If you haven't heard of him, get to know Wiz Khalifa. He's the next BIG thing in hip-hop. His mixtape, Kush & Orange Juice, was one of the most talked about mixtapes of 2010. Although he's still underground, he's gonna be big. Taylor Gang or Die!

What I'm Listening to: Black & Yellow
This song is awesome! It has a great beat & an addicting hook. Plus, the fact that it's Drake's favorite song makes it all the better ;)

5. Ryan Leslie- Not only is this man an intellectual genius (he scored a 1600 on his SAT at age 16), but Ryan Leslie is an amazing songwriter & producer. Leslie's second official album, Transitions, premiered in early 2010. What I love most about RL is that he can write the perfect love song without using demeaning language.

What I'm listening to: Something that I Like
If this song doesn't make you wanna dance, then idk what will :)

6. Katy Perry- This pop star has done it big, again! More likely than not, you've heard her title song of her second big album,"Teenage Dream." In addition to this song, her entire album is awesome. Perry can be heard all around my campus & I'm sure you would love to hear her too!

What I'm listening to: Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
I imagine that this song is the "story of my life" song to numerous partying college students. Hopefully I'll never have a Last Friday Night like Katy's, but this song is great nonetheless.
