I'm Back!!!!!

Dude, I really really really apologize for not blogging. I told myself that I was going to blog this entire year, but I guess I need to just face the fact that I'm not the best at making promises to myself. After a semester of absolute hysteria due to classes that dominated my life (aka Anatomy), I was too worn out to do anything but hop straight into bed. However, I'm back at home for the entire summer & I now have nothing but free time to blog (well sort of) But here's a few updates on my life/music/whereabouts etc:

drakE draKE drAKE dRAKE DRAKE!!!!

I went to my 2nd Drake Concert in May
So at the end of May I was finally reunited with my future husband Drake. My roomate from last year, roomate from freshman year, brother & brother from another mother all hopped in the car and drove to ATL to see Drake & friends (lol) at Aaron's Amphitheater in Lakewood. It had been a little more than two years since I had last year Drake and boy oh boy was it worth the wait. The concert was supposed to consist of Meek Mill, French Montana, Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chains, J.Cole & Drake, but Drake ended up bringing out Gucci, Future & T.I. Yes, TI!!!!! Also, it was my first time at Lakewood and I enjoyed the venue. When you first enter, it kind of resembles six flags. The venue is super large & accommodates lots of seating prices so next time I'll be sure to buy a more expensive ticket. Also it's a great place to host a pre-concert tailgate party so I'm looking into that for the future. Drake's set list included Trust Issues, Make Me Proud, Over, Marvin's Room, Headlines, UGK, We'll Be Fine, Round of Applause, Tony Montana, Practice, Up All Night, Miss Me, She Will , Take Care, Crew Love, Lord Knows etc. J.Cole did Nobody's Perfect, A Dollar & a Dream, Can't Get Enough, Work Out & Blow Up. Overall it was a great concert & I had sooo much fun.

Apartment
I'm moving into an apartment in August. I'm super nervous/excited/ecstatic/emotional about this lol! I've been shopping for things here & there but I've yet to come up with a theme for my bedroom/bathroom. We decided to do a black & white theme for the kitchen with yellow in the living room. If you know of any good websites/ideas for my apartment please feel free to drop a comment in the box!

New blog!
What began as a project for my computing class has transitioned into a full scale natural hair care blog. I'm no longer going to be blogging about my "naturalness" on this blog, but if you're interested, check out my new blog! Click Here!

Music!
So how about my freaking ipod is currently useless and will not let me update. Every time I try to add a new song, an error pops up. I have a feeling that I'm going to have to jailbreak my ipe and upload all of my songs onto my comp so that I can restore my i-pod. If you know anything about how to fix this, please let me know! Help :) Meanwhile, here is what I'm currently listening to on my brother's i-pod -___-

1. Disparate Youth- Santogold Santogold & M.I.A. are too artists that I admire, but in my opinion their music is definitely hit or miss. Sometimes I'll find one their songs that I really love, while some of their other songs are just too out there for my taste. But this song in particular just puts me in that place where I can feel the endorphins being released in my brain. Hahaha! Check out this crazy music video too! ----->
2. No te dejare de amar- Maffio In the summertime, I usually spend the first hour or two watching music videos on mtv3. I saw the video for this song the other day & I was hooked! Who can skip over this catchy merengueton song?
3. Princesa Mia- Jalil Every now & then I crave Bachata. I mean literally crave it. I have a month or several weeks where I'll literally listen to nothing but bachata. Just straight bachata 24/7. & during my last Bachata crave sesh (which took place during the month of April), I found this song on a new reggaeton/bachata website suggested by my brother (Click here) And what do you know? I was watching MTV3 and the video came up. & I just so happen to really enjoy it. lol! <-----
4. Blackout-Breathe Carolina So while I'm going through my Bachata obsession, my brother is going through his dubstep, house music obsession. I was snooping through his songs the other day & I this was the one that I liked the most.
5. Long heels, Red bottoms- Trina I know I'm about a year late, but I just can't seem to get enough of this song! It makes me wanna lose my sanity & go pay $600 bucks for a new pair of Loubs (psych!) I will say that something about the beat does make me wanna hit the club & dance around in my $20 knock off Target red bottoms! Make sure to turn up the bass with this one!
6. Love-Jareth I'm a huge fan of Adele. Since Amy's gone, Adele is my surviving British soul diva! When I saw/heard the commercial for the Roberto Cavalli perfume I was super excited to hear that Adele was making new music. Then after a quick google search, I realized that it wasn't Adele singing the song, but Jareth a music newbie. Either way, I love this song!
7. Wandering Limbs- Kimbra So I'm still waiting for Aussie beauty Kimbra's music to make it stateside and I don't think that day is too far away. I heard her song "Settle Down" on a commercial for the Real Housewives of New York (improper placement if you ask me lol). While I'm waiting, I discovered this song on my ipe (of all places) the other day & can't get enough of it. It's absolutely beautiful!

Well, I hope that this post somewhat makes up for my absences.

Jackie

The Sweetest Thing I've Ever Read

So today I was browsing through some of my favorite blogs (located on the tab on the left) & I came upon this post on Talk2TheTrees. I thought it was really precious and you should read it. Click here to read it. I want someone to dedicate something like this to. (:

That is all.

Brrrrr.....

So today it was 65 degrees outside! I feel like Gucci....Brrrrrr! Unfortunately I've been sick for the past week...but I have several updates!

  •  I made a twitter! Ahhhhhh! I really wasn't going to, but my friend Alex convinced me into getting one. Speaking of twitter, this twitter beef between Ray  J & Fabolous is absolutely outrageous...OUTRAGEOUS! Why do we preoccupy ourselves with this mess?
  • Michel Chikwanine is absolutely amazing. He is an ex-child soldier and refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He came to my school last week to speak about his experiences in a war torn country. He is a PHENOMENAL orator. If you are a college student and he comes to speak at your school, this is an opportunity that you are not going to want to miss out on. Or if you are a member of a school organization which brings speakers to your school, Michel Chikwanine is a great suggestion for a speaker. He put all of the benefits of my life into perspective and made me realize how truly blessed I am to live in the United States. Click here to here an excerpt from his speech and to learn more about him.
  • I'm With You- So today I went to health center and I was feeling like absolute crap :( The appointment took longer than expected and I ended up missing a class and an appointment with my teacher while waiting. Exhausted and distraught I hopped onto the bus and was pleasantly surprised when the bus driver was rocking out (and I mean rocking out!) to the entire I'm With You album. I mean he was singing on the TOP OF HIS LUNGS to all my faves including Ethiopia, Factory of Faith etc. I was sooo excited. That def made my day.
  • Toga, Toga, Toga- So this weekend, instead of trying to heal myself and get better I decided to a Kappa Alpha Psi toga party! It was soooo much fun and way worth the fact that I felt crappier the next day. LOL! We had a toga making party in my dorm. Then my hall family (yes, we are a family) all headed downtown & partied! Me & my friends Wobbled on stage and had an awesome time. After the party, we went downtown to Waffle House (of course (: ) and met new friends as usual! Then we drove around my dorm's parking lot and stalked people. LOL! It was lots and lots of fun (:
  • Dubstep! Friday night we went riding in my friend Jon's jeep. Then afterwards we danced on the top of my parking deck & it was soo much fun lol (and also another reason why I still so sick). When we were riding around, he was playing this song on his Jeep's awesome sound system! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.
  • Dancing in the Dark- The next time that I go party, I am not leaving until this song comes on. It is so much fun to dance to & it makes me wanna pop it wherever I'm at...the dining hall, the bus, class, or in the dorm. LOL!
  • Salsa Sabrosa!! Before I get to the actual point of this bullet, I can't believe that I haven't told y'all about two awesome new websites that I found about for finding Spanish music. One of my co-workers from my hometown (I worked at a Mexican restaurant) told me about flowhot.net. It's a great site to find reggaeton, new & old. However, this website may be slightly tricky for those of you non-Spanish speakers. When you first enter the site, you will be bombarded with lots of crazy "download" links. Click on the white link which says "entrar" which will take you to the main site. From there you can download entire reggaeton cds, pre released reggaeton songs & old school reggaeton (my personal fave (: ) If you're looking for the newest music but don't want to search through all of the posts, I would suggest that you start with the Top de Estrenos list on the right side of the home page. It takes a couple of seconds for it to appear, but it usually has the best current reggaeton. The next site is konklase.com. Once again the majority of this website is in Spanish. Click the blue "entrar" link this time & it will take you to the home page. If you click hover the mouse over the unreleased section it will list bachata, salsa and merengue. This is a great side to find current Latin music other than reggaeton. Enjoy! Now the point of this bullet was that J. Alvarez released a salsa remix of my favorite song of his, Junto Al Almanecer. (Click here to hear the remix of the original.) Anywho, here is the Salsa Version!
 Welp, enjoy!!

Love Love Love

Party Rock is in the House Tonight!

Hey Hey Hey!

So I am completely in awe of the fact that I'm at 800 views! Woot Woot! It has taken me a while to get to this point, but I'm super excited. Hopefully I'll be at 1,000 soon. Here's a couple of updates for now!

Everyone on the bus, headed to the game!

  1. Drake has new music...aigdadhfoigjiojasdgabbagabbagabba!! I am SUPER excited because I was starting to get just a little bored with Headlines. But that song is still great nonetheless! The first song, Club Paradise, is kinda chill and somber. It's more like the "new" Drake. The second song, Free Spirit featuring Rick Ross, sounds a lot like So Far Gone! Yay (: The final song, Waka Flocka's Round of Applause, which features Drake is....interesting to say the least. Drake's part goes real hard of course...but anything Waka Flocka is not so great (to say the least). Nevertheless, I'm super excited about Drake's newly released singles & extra pumped for "Take Care" (which comes out in 1 month & 12 days yay!)
  2. First home football game of the year! Woot Woot! Unfortunately we lost, due to a last minute fumble & a sucky offensive line. I was seriously hoping that we would win this game. We lost by 3 points :( Three points! I had lots of fun with my friends though (I got to see my Patrice who I've missed sooo much) & next week's game should be a definite win :)
  3. Party Party Party: So Friday night there was a hugeeeee frat party at the Delta Sigma house. There were sooo many people there. I had lots and lots of fun (: Then Saturday night we headed dt after the game. It was lots of fun! Two of my friends and I were at this club dt and they started playing LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem. My friend looooooves that song and immediately climbed up on a table & started shuffling. Well she shuffled too far to the right and fell off the table! Bahahahaha. The funny thing is that even though she fell and was wedged in between the table & seats, she was still singing and trying to shuffle. LOL! That was a very eventful night!
  4. So Far, So Good: So far sophomore year is great! I'm meeting so many new people, my classes are terribly easy (they're my final core classes before I enter my major) & I'm just living it up! I think it has a lot to do with the building that I'm living in this year. Last year my building was filled with lots of Sorostitutes (except for Inverness Hall & the 9th floor!), but this year a lot of my friends live on my hall & everyone is super chill. Thank God for that!
Welp, that's literally everything that I've been up to! Hopefully more interesting exciting news will be posted later!

Jackie

That the Real is on the Rise, Forget them Other Guys

Okay so I'm in the blogging mood tonight & I decided to make another music post. I've added 987348756345 new songs to my I-pod and I wanted to share some with y'all:

1. Love on Top-Beyonce...if you didn't see the VMAs, you missed out! Not only did Beyonce belt out this song, but she announced that she's prego. This baby is gonna be adorable....as long as it doesn't look like her husband...or her mama....or like that. -------> hahaha.

Here's Beyonce's performance if you missed it:

2. Niggas in Paris- Jay-Z & Kanye West. This is my absolute favorite song off of 'Watch the Throne.' This song makes me wanna get it crunk on someone's ahhh. Hahaha. But this is my party song. If you want a hype song, this is it!

3. Mas Dinero, Mas Mujeres, Mas Drama- J. Alvarez. So let me just say that J. Alvarez is my Latin lover. His voice= ahhhhhhh.  This song is amazing! BTW, I know this is a hip hop song in English...More Money, More Women, More Drama. If you know of a song in English, drop me a comment below because this lack of knowledge is killing me.

4. Frio Remix-Ricky Martin ft. Wisin y Yandel Ricky Martin is back with W con Y! haha. This is a really great song and it easily gets stuck in your head.

Enjoy!!

I'm With You > The Carter IV

Hello Lovers,

So as many of y'all know, I was anxiously awaiting the release of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album, I'm With You. Well the wait is over. I'm With You was released on Monday (I think...it's been a long week) and this cd definitely makes up for the five year gap between Stadium Arcadium & IWY. Many were disappointed by this cd because of the departure of guitarist John Frusciante. Although the guitar chords are definitely a lot weaker than those on some of their previous albums, I think this cd is ABSOLUTELY amazing & it was well worth the wait. Now for the good part...my favorite songs off the album :)

***Disclosure: Before I begin this, I have to admit that I'm still in the process of listening to this album. I promise I'll finish this blog as soon as I'm done listening ;) For the meantime, I'll rank the songs from favorite to least favorite. Remember to click the links to listen!

1. Ethiopia- E I O I E I A. I guarantee that if you give this song one listen, it will be stuck in your head! This is my absolute favorite song off of this cd! It's quirky and funky, reminiscent of 'Mother's Milk' and 'Blood Sex Sugar Magik.'

2. The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie- This is the album's first single, which was released towards the middle of June. It really got me excited for this album! This song is also quirky and funky, just like Ethiopia.

3. Factory of Faith- With this song we're reminded of their more recent albums, with a hint of something new!

4. Look Around- This song is somewhat similar to Factory of Faith. It reminds me of one of their old songs, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which one. (I'll get back to y'all when I finish listening to the rest of these songs).

5. Brendan's Death Song- This song is ranked so low, simply because it's super sad. It's about LA club owner, Brendan Mullen, who helped to give RHCP their start. After passing away from a stroke, Anthony Kiedis wrote this song about him.

6. Did I Let You Know- This song is soooo different from anything that RHCP has ever done before. It has a Latin vibe.  & I love it.

Okay, so here's my basic review of I'm With You. LOL. Enjoy for now!! :)

Back to College!

So I'm back at school again....WOOT! & I must say that this year is already 19234872394723497 times greater than last year. So many  of my friends live in my dorm this year & it feels like a party everyday. Last week I partied almost everyday to make up for my completely uneventful summer. Thursday a group of my friends & I went dt to a bar (right), headed to an Alpha Party & then acted like fools at Waffle House after. We even made grad school friends & took pictures with them! LOL. Friday, a group of friends & I went to my friend Alex's apartment & then headed downtown for another Alpha/Sigma party. That party was by far the BEST party of the weekend! Saturday was a big FAIL. We went to a Kappa party & it was super lame. But my friends kept me laughing, which made up for it. I'm looking forward to more parties coming up soon! Anywho...now that you're caught up with my life, here are some things that have been on my mind!

  • (Not so) Picture Perfect: This new picture tool on blogger.com is seriously annoying. I can't get my pictures to do anything that I want them to do :( If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
  • Va a Ser Abuela-Farruko: I cannot get this song out of my head....not that it's a bad thing :) Va a ser abuela by Farruko, one of my favorites newcomers to reggaeton, is such a sweet song.  Farruko brings something new  to his repertoire with this bachata song & I'm loving it. If you don't understand Spanish and thus, why I love this song so much, you can read the lyrics by clicking here.
  • Zumbaaaaaa! I am a huge fan of Zumba. If you don't know what Zumba is, it's an aerobic dance class which combines basic latin dance (such as merengue, salsa, cumbia & bachata) with  aerobics & hip hop. I went to my first class my junior year of high school & I have been going ever since...college. haha. If you read my post a couple of months back about the things that I wanted to do before the summer ended, you read about how I wanted to take a Zumba class. Well two months down the road and a day before I was ready to head back to college, I still hadn't taken a Zumba class :( Fortunately they have Zumba classes at my school, so of course I had to go! My roomie & I went last Thursday & it was AMAZING! If you've never been to a Zumba class, I would highly recommend that you attend. It is so much fun & it doesn't feel like you're working out.
  • Strip Aerobics? In addition to going to Zumba this week, I also tried something new & went to strip aerobics. LOL! You only live once right? There's a dance studio in my college town that hosts a free class week at the beginning of each semester & I decided to try something new...very new. I went with my roomie & my neighbor! Even though I was a little anxious when I first walked into the class (I literally had no idea what I was getting myself into), the class ended up being really fun & an excellent workout. We started out with a high intensity warm up  & then learned a choreographed routine to Lady Gaga's You and I (click here to listen!). It was super fun & I will definitely be attending again.
  • Classes! So my classes so far have turned out to be fabulous! I am really loving them so far. We'll see if I still feel the same way by the end of the semester. Hah ;)
  • Real Housewives, where are you? I am EXTREMELY excited for the premier of the next season of the Real Housewives of ATL. Please hurry up!! Also, I'm pretty excited about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but sad to hear that Taylor Armstrong's husband committed suicide, allegedly because of his marriage being played out on television. This is extremely tragic. It's sad that Russell Armstrong felt that the only way out of dealing with his marital problems was by committing suicide. & it's also extremely sad that the media would portray him in a such a way that would drive him to commit suicide. How is Taylor supposed to explain her husband's death to her young daughter? :(
Welp, I hate to leave on a sour note, but that's all that I could think of for now! Have a great weekend!

xoxo
